Journalist community condemns Punjab govt bid to dislodge senior journalist family from their home


LAHORE: Senior journalists and former office bearers of Punjab Union of Journalists have strongly condemned Punjab government bid to render senior member of Lahore Press Club, PUJ and Punjab Assembly gallery Mian Muhammad Nadim under the pretext of development works.


They warned if Mian Muhammad Nadim and his family members would be dislodged from their home without providing them alternative residence or paying compensation then the journalist community would set up protest camps outside chief minister house and Punjab Assembly.


A meeting of senior journalists and former office bearers of Lahore Press Club here in Lahore Press Club Tuesday which was attended by former president PUJ Jalil Hassan Akhtar, Badar Islam Butt, Raja Aurang Zeb, former general secretary Punjab Union of Journalists Qamar ul Zaman Bhatti, former senior vice president Pakistan federal union of journalists, Nawaz Tahir, former president Punjab Assembly Press Gallery Zahir Shahzad, former vice president Lahore Press Club, Aamir Waqas Chaudhry, former general secretary Lahore Press Club Mian Abid and others.


The meeting expressed regret that Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other senior officials had taken no notice of the appeal made against this high handedness and injustice.


Senior journalist said if Punjab government needed old home of Mian Muhammad Nadim then compensation be paid first of all to all affectees or alternative residences be provided.


They demanded of PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif, Punjab chief minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal and senior provincial minister Rana Sana Ullah Khan to take notice of the matter, end injustice in the name of development and harassment of family of senior journalist.


On the other hand senior journalist Mian Nadeem has announced to set up token hunger strike camp from July, 1 in Press Club against the tyrannical act of government of Punjab.

 آٹھ مقام (خواجہ فیاض حسین/ نمائندہ جنگ ) وزیر اعظم پاکستان سید یوسف رضا گیلانی نے بلائی نیلم کے علاقہ کیل میں پیپلز پارٹی کے نتخابی مہم کے جلسہ سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پیپلز پارٹی مسلہ کشمیر کی بنیاد پر معرض وجود میں آئی ہے وادی نیلم کےموبائل فون فروس، صحت ، مواصلات تعلیم تمام مسائل سے آگاہ ہوں اعلانات پر مخالف جماعتیں ایشو بنا لیتی ہیں انتخابات کے فورا بعد وادی نیلم کے مسائل کے حل کے لئے خصوصی پیکیج دیا جائے گا ہمارے خلاف باتیں کی جاتی ہیں لیکن ہم اس کا نوٹس ہی نہیں لیتے 1973 کے آئین کو اصل حالت میں بحال کیا گیا ہے جموریت کو مستحکم کیا گیا ہے انھوں نے کہا کہ ہم پر مخالفین الزام لگاتے ہیں کہ ہم اداروں کو کمزور کر رہے ہیں لیکن جتنا پیپلز پارٹی اداروں کا احترام کرتی ہے اتنا کوئی اور نہیں کرتا ہے جمہوریت کے لئے ہم سب کو ساتھ لے کر چلنا چاہتے ہیں مسلہ کشمیر ھل کرنے کے لئے پاک بھارت مذاکراتی عمل جاری ہے میں نے اپنے بھارتی ہم منصب منموہن سنگھ کو شرم الشیخ میں مسلہ کشمیر سمیت تمام تنازعات ٹیبل ٹاک سے حل کرنے پر اتفاق کیا ہے ہم اسلحہ کی دوڑ کے بجائے خطہ کوپرامن اور خوشحال بنانا چاہتے ہیں جو کہ خطہ کی بے روزگاری غربت کو ختم کرنے کا واحد راستہ ہے آزاد کشمیر کے لوگ عوامی مفاد عامہ کے پیش نظر پیپلز پارٹی ہی کے امیدواروں کو کامیاب بنائیں یہاں کے مسائل اور تعمیرترقی ہماری ذمہ داری ہے ۔
